It Started Out As A Simple Demonstration….Then The MAGIC Happened!

She starts by saddling her beautiful horse, paying attention to all the little details that go along with this task. She makes sure the saddle pad fits just right and there are no wrinkles under the saddle. She checks her horse’s girth to make sure it fits properly and is not too tight or too loose around her partners body. All the while, her horse is standing there quietly and patiently waiting for his rider to tell him what’s next.

She then proceeds to lunge her gorgeous horse in circles around her. He elegantly floats in a circle around her, never pulling on the lunge line that she is holding.

Next is where the magic begins! She removes her horse’s halter and lead rope and continues to lunge him. The only difference is he is completely free to do whatever he want. Instead of running away, her horse chooses to continue “working” with her in a true partnership. After the lunging is over, she is assisted in mounting her horse. They trot together BEAUTIFULLY around the ring.

The rider is Lauren Barwick and if I didn’t know better, I don’t think I would have noticed that she’s paralyzed from the waist down. The beauty of the partnership between horse and rider has left us in awe!
